Ex Ego

Track the time you spend, together, without keeping score.

Ex Ego is a small web application where you note the time you spend on things, one category at a time, and then look at what it adds up to for a whole group. A household, an association, a building committee: anywhere several people do things together without anyone being in charge of the others.

There is no administrator role. Every member of a team has exactly the same powers: rename the team, invite someone, create a category, fix a task. The only thing that is yours alone is your own time entries, which nobody else can change.

Five words worth knowing

A team gathers people and everything they count together. You can belong to several teams and switch between them: the whole interface follows the active team, colours included.

A category is what you count time on, for instance Cooking, Groceries or Meetings. It belongs to the team rather than to you, and anyone can create one. When a category stops being useful you archive it: it leaves the entry lists, but the time already recorded stays in the statistics.

A time entry is a number of minutes, attached to a category and to a date. There is no start time, no end time and no ceiling. An entry belongs to you: you alone can correct or delete it.

A group sets some categories apart. Their time leaves the team statistics and lives in a panel of its own. It exists for a subject you want to follow without letting it crush everything else.

A task is something to do, dated, attached to a category. You take it, you finish it, and the application then offers to schedule it again at the rhythm it has observed.
