Adding time

The crossroads of the Add tab: count from now, or write down what is already done.

Add screen: two large cards, “Start the timer” and “Add time”, then a “Manage categories” link.
Two ways of counting, one decision per gesture.

The Add tab opens on a short question: am I counting from now, or writing down something already done?

Why two paths

Two different situations:

  • I am about to do something and I think of timing it: I start the timer now.
  • I have done something, I glanced at the clock when I started, and I can estimate to within five minutes how long it took me.

The timer does not ask for a category up front: you choose it when you stop the timer. That is deliberate, because when you start something you want to press and go, and because you always know better what you did once it is done.

Managing categories

The link to category management lives on this screen, on top of the settings. It will also sit on the category choice page, at the moment you realise one is missing.

When a timer is already running

If a timer is running in the active team, this choice screen disappears: the Add tab becomes the timer screen directly. There cannot be two measurements at once, and the application would rather show the one that is running than offer a second.
